Original ink drawings by Edward Borein (1872-1945)
Our gallery is pleased to offer two exceptional original india ink drawings by early California artist, Edward Borein.
Borein's experience as a working cowboy and his deft facility at drawing enabled him to authentically chronicle Western life with a spontaneity rivaled by few. His illustrations appeared in the pages of the San Francisco Call, Harpers, Sunset and The Saturday Evening Post, among others. Western luminaries such as Will Rogers, Buffalo Bill Cody and Charlie Russell were counted among his friends and often spent time in his New York studio. Borein ultimately returned to his native Calfornia where he settled in Santa Barbara.
